The Metro Detroit Veterans Coalition to host the 17th Annual Detroit Veterans Day Parade, Sunday, Nov. 6.

The veterans coalition invites all veterans and service organizations, youth groups, marching bands, school, and community members to participate in the parade at 11:11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6.

The parade will leave from and return to the IBEW Local 58, at 1358 Abbott St. The parade is coupled with the 4Star 4Mile Race, combined into what is proudly called the Armed Services Salute, honoring the service of our veterans, active military, and community volunteers with the motto, “Inspiring patriotism through community service”.

The Armed Services Salute provides the opportunity to march with veterans, run alongside veterans, cheer on, and thank our veterans, the Sunday before Veterans Day in downtown Detroit with friends and comrades across southeast Michigan.

Veterans and veteran organizations including those from Oakland County and surrounding areas, annually attend to show their support of all military veterans, military personnel, and their families. This year, IBEW Local 58 to host a Vetsfast breakfast at 8 a.m. for participants inside the IBEW hall.

A big part of the parade is having the Motorcycle Brigade lead the marchers each year. The brigade is made up of motorcyclists from across the state of Michigan and are led by The American Legion Riders from Garden City Post 396.

Brigade Coordinator Jeff McAdams will provide information and logistics to motorcyclists, email to jeffrey7257@asbcglobal.net. Registration is required by Nov. 1 at mdvcmi.org/parade-registration.
